Updating your opportunity's expiration date

Your ongoing opportunities will expire within 90 days after they are published. If you're worried about forgetting, don't worry! We will send you an email when the expiration dates of your opportunities are approaching.

Expired opportunities will no longer show up in search results for potential volunteers, but they will still be listed in your Opportunity Dashboard table. You can edit or reactivate them whenever you want!

The instructions for updating the expiration date of your opportunity will vary depending on the type of opportunity. Choose from the following options to access the relevant steps: 

• Ongoing Opportunities
• Opportunities with Specific Dates

Ongoing Opportunities

If you have marked your opportunities as 'Ongoing,' they will automatically expire after 90 days. You can change the expiration dates for these opportunities directly from your dashboard! Just follow these steps:

1. Select the opportunities you want to edit by checking the box next to them

2. In the upper left corner of your opportunity table, choose 'Change Expiration' from the drop-down menu

3. Enter the new expiration date in the provided space and click save

You can also edit the expiration date of an opportunity from the opportunity details page using these instructions:

1. From your organization dashboard, click on the pencil icon to the right of the opportunity you want to edit
2. Select 'Recruitment' and then enter a new expiration date in the field provided

3. Click the checkmark to save your changes

Ongoing opportunities can be extended for up to 90 days at a time.

Opportunities with Specific Dates

If your opportunity takes place on a specific date or date range, it will expire on the last day of the opportunity. To edit the expiration date, you need to edit the date of the opportunity.

To do this, follow these steps:

1. From your organization dashboard, click on the pencil icon () to the right of the opportunity you want to edit
2. Click on 'Edit Opportunity'

3. Go to the Date/ Time section and under ‘Are there specific dates?’ select Yes to choose a date or date range; or No if the opportunity doesn’t have specific dates. All ongoing opportunities will set the expiration date 90 days after your opportunity is posted
   
   
4. Select ‘Save’
   

If you have fulfilled your volunteer needs but don't want to permanently delete your opportunity, you can change the expiration date to a date in the past using the instructions above. This will make your opportunity inactive, so it will no longer be visible to potential volunteers but will remain in your opportunity table.
